EMC is short for Every Moment Counts. We use a developmental and participatory approach in all of our activities. We started off in a small coffee shop with seven members but fast outgrew the premises and now operate out of our local youth reach building. We have 32 members. There is a huge interest in music and have taken part in various events doing African hand drumming.
We have just taken part in a trilateral contact youth exchange. EMC, and a group from Kilkenny hosted a group from Newry. We will also be running a drums not drugs education programme between ourselves, Portlaoise and Kilkenny. This will take place in Co. Cavan, in November.
Membership
We cater for 12-16 year olds.

- Day trip to Croke Park for youth action day, participation in samba and African drumming workshops, Internet safety and intercultural workshops.
- Discussion around drug awareness.
- Drug awareness and prevention workshop.
- Cultural awareness discussions.
- Weekend drumming workshop in preparation for St.Patrick's day as a marching African hand-drumming group.
- Participation of eleven young people in an art based workshop in Dublin looking at fair trade with four other youth groups.
