The Ennis Youth Project (GYDP), which is run in partnership with the Gardaí, is managed by Clare Youth Service and is supported by an advisory committee comprised of local Gardaí, JLO, Community Representatives, FÁS, Probation & Welfare Service, CYS, and local schools.

The project works intensively with a small group of young people who are referred onto the project. Referrals are taken from members of the advisory committee as well as residents, parents; the young people themselves, the Health Service Executive and Social Workers.

Our work is based on the voluntary participation of young people. We create the conditions for young people to explore the choices they make in their own lives. The Project develops high quality programmes designed by qualified youth workers and involving direct input from young people. These programmes are designed to provide a stimulating experience for young people using a range of methods, which include:

  • Group Work Working together co-operatively

  • Education ProgrammesIncluding life skills, personal development, arts & creativity, leisure & recreation

  • Drop-in spaceOpen and welcoming to young people

  • One to One SupportProviding intensive support to meet individual needs

These programmes are designed with flexibility in mind with different levels depending on the interests and ability of young people.

The Ennis Youth Project is funded by The Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
